This is one of my favourite bear stories that my friend collected for me last year.
It takes place in the Yukon and is told by Timothy Hume, a poet, artist and man of the wild. He tells the story of the time he returned to his meat cache only go find a grizzly bear had other plans.
A dramatic high speed chase ensues.
I love this quote: “I jump on my little stallion Salty. The rifle is stuck under the horse…so am I am going to boot out of there…but the stallion just charges straight at the bear.”
A special thank you to my west coast correspondent for capturing this classic.
Do you have a bear story? I’d love to hear it.
