I’m sorry ‘The Bear’ isn’t on the Baileys shortlist, but to have been on the longlist is wonderful. A British critic said the Baileys choices have been much the most interesting and original of this year’s prize lists. I look forward to your next novel. Can’t help feeling pleased that of the 6 on the shortlist 2 are Irish debuts.
At Christmas Baileys introduced to Ireland a chocolate version of their Irish Cream liqueur. Dangerously delicious. If it’s available in Canada, raise a glass to yourself. With a chocolate raised, which seems to be a chocolate doughnut?
Best wishes from Dublin.

Thank you for the good wishes. I must admit, the short list is excellent.
A chocolate raised is a doughnut and I find they go with anything. Given that there is no such thing as too much of a good thing, chocolate liqueur is an ideal pairing.
If my next novel is full of jitters, you’ll know what I was drinking and eating while I wrote it.

Claire, thanks for taking the time to reply. I’m learning so much about Canadian culture – Coleman and the chocolate raised. Enjoy.
